Our founder has always been passionate about art and interiors. But for years, finding wall art that felt truly right, contemporary enough, warm enough, meaningful enough — was harder than it should have been.
So she created it herself.
What began as a personal search to find pieces that truly resonated, art that felt both visually beautiful and deeply intentional, grew into a brand built on that same principle. Akua Home was born from that conviction. And it remains at the heart of everything we create.
Akua — pronounced Eh-kuah — is our founder's Ghanaian name. It's rooted in Ghanaian tradition, where children are named after the day of the week they are born, Akua is the name given to a girl born on a Wednesday.
It only made sense to our founder that when building something of her own, it would be named after the day she was born.
