What started as our founder's passion for creating prints to decorate her living room, quickly turned into a growing business that's turning boring spaces into 'happy homes'. Through our strong passion for interior design, we want to inspire our customers to create a home that makes their 'hearts' and 'homes' happy! Our story
The inspiration behind Akua Home is not only drawn from our founder's Ghanaian heritage, but also from her strong faith as Christian. This influence is beautifully reflected in our collection of African and culturally inspired pieces, each one inspired by our founder's rich Ghanaian background and Christian faith.
Akua, pronounced as Eh-kuah, is a typical girl’s name that originates from the Akan tribe in Ghana. Akua means ‘Born on Wednesday or Wednesday Born’. In the Akan tribe, it is a common practice to name a child after the day of the week they are born. Our founder was born on a Wednesday, which is the inspiration behind the brand, Akua Home.
